Who's closer to the truth: so-called "conspiracy theorists" or those who believe mainstream media?

"Conspiracy theorists" are much closer to the truth since it is a fact that the mainstream media is controlled by the elite. I think it is ridiculous that anyone who believes that a conspiracy can exist is quickly labeled a "conspiracy theorist" and dismissed as a paranoid nutjob. History has proven time and again that conspiracies *do happen*. Therefore, why is it that people are so quick to believe it when someone is accused of conpiracy to commit murder?? If you believe that people could conspire to commit a murder, then why is it so crazy and far-fetched to consider that there could actually be a larger conspiracy afoot by the government (or a shadowy international cabal of globalists)?
