Is it better not to look at women you p by?

Where ever I go - mall, store, gym even walking outside I see attractive women wearing skimpy clothing just begging you to gawk. I always seem to fall for it and stare! However, I am thinking it would be better to notice the female, and then turn away and pretend you don't even see her. This way her self-asteem isn't taken up another level because yet another guy stared her down. I know this approach seems a bit evil, seeming like I want their self asteem to be as low as possible, but that isn't the case. I figure if I act like I am not interested, she will see me as mysterious and interesting, and not just another guy looking her up and down. By doing that, it will get her thinking "why isn't this guy looking at me?" "Does he not find me and my half-naked self attractive?" I find this a good way to "stick it to the man" or women, if you will. Would this be a good route or am I setting myself up for failure with women?
