Can breakthrough technology in a company make it an illegal monopoly if it benefits the economy?

For example: Lets say in the next 20 years or so (after the oil peak has been reached, oil output is decreasing which causes oil price to sky rocket) a company springs out of the ground with an engine that doesnt use any fossil, hydrogen, or any fuel alternative that other auto manufacutres have tried. This company flourishes and more people begin to switch to this company because oil reserves are running dry and prices are too high for oil (it is just a convinient engine). Will this make it an illegal monopoly and HAVE to be broken up by the government? If so how. Or will it be a coersive monopoly that the government will grant?
