What genre would this kind of writing be?

I am currently started the task of recalling all of my mother's stories and collecting them into a book. I originally called it a memoir, because I was remembering the legacy that my mother's life through her influence on my own. But memoirs are about personal experience, and about remembering one's own life. It is not a biography because it is more personal and less sterile. More about creating nostalgia, sentimentality, and inspiration; less about detailing the subject's life in a regimented fashion using research, dates, and doentation. In a way I want to revive the art of story-telling and how it can influence a child's life, even into adulthood. Any idea what the genre would be?
