Christians -- do you think that because you are "saved", there are no consequences for your actions?

Does asking for divine forgiveness eliminate the earthly consequences for your decisions? And if not, why? If your sins are forgiven, why would god make you responsible for the consequences here but not hold you responsible in the afterlife?
